Fees on both sides

Most profit calculators ignore fees, which flatters small trades. This one charges the fee on the way in, so you buy slightly fewer coins, and again on the way out, so you keep slightly less. The break-even price accounts for both.

Setting a target

The target price tells you where to place a limit sell for the return you want. Enter a negative target to see the price at which you would be down that much, which is a fair place for a stop.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my break-even price above my buy price?
Fees. You pay a fee when you buy and again when you sell, so the sell price has to cover both before you are back to even. At 0.1% per side that is about 0.2% above your entry; at 1.5% per side it is over 3%.
Does the calculator include taxes?
No. In the US, gains on crypto held under a year are taxed as ordinary income and over a year as long-term capital gains. A tax tool like Koinly handles the lot accounting.
What about spreads?
Simple buy buttons on many apps quote a price above the market and call the difference a spread rather than a fee. Add it to the fee percentage here to see the true cost.
